Prayers for Lucky

Today my Mom's dog, Lucky, is at the vet having a cancerous spot on her back leg removed! Please keep her in your prayers, and also pray that it was an early enough stage that further medical intervention is not needed! Lucky is a tough girl, I know she'll do great.

10 Weeks!

Wow! Officially at 10 weeks today, and feeling good! For the last two nights I have been taking my prenatal vitamins with dinner, and taking my anti-nausea medication right afterwards. Although it makes me sleepy right away, it's worth it! The last two mornings I've woken up without any nausea at all. I don't want to get my hopes up again, but I'm grateful for how I am feeling today. Steve continues to be such wonderful support to me. This morning, I was greeted with a great backrub to start my day! (I just hope that it continues, as I know I'll need it the more uncomfortable I get farther along in the pregnancy) It was a great way to start the day, and I was singing with radio all the way into work. Thanks Honey, for making it a great day! I love you!

So here is what's going on with Baby Schoff this week:
"Though he's
barely the size of a kumquat — a little over an inch or so long, crown to bottom — and weighs less than a quarter of an ounce, your baby has now completed the most critical portion of his development. This is the beginning of the so-called fetal period, a time when the tissues and organs in his body rapidly grow and mature. He's swallowing fluid and kicking up a storm. Vital organs — including his kidneys, intestines, brain, and liver (now making red blood cells in place of the disappearing yolk sac) — are in place and starting to function, though they'll continue to develop throughout your pregnancy. If you could take a peek inside your womb, you'd spot minute details, like tiny nails forming on fingers and toes (no more webbing) and peach-fuzz hair beginning to grow on tender skin.In other developments: Your baby's limbs can bend now. His hands are flexed at the wrist and meet over his heart, and his feet may be long enough to meet in front of his body. The outline of his spine is clearly visible through translucent skin, and spinal nerves are beginning to stretch out from his spinal cord. Your baby's forehead temporarily bulges with his developing brain and sits very high on his head, which measures half the length of his body. From crown to rump, he's about 1 1/4 inches long. In the coming weeks, your baby will again double" - courtesy of babycenter.com

Doctor Visit

Today we had our New OB appointment with Dr. Poag. She went over both mine and Steve's family medical history's and answered lots of questions we had. Once again this morning I was sick twice; once at home, and then again at the doctors office. I got a new prescription for nausea along with my old one to see which works better for me. The new one she said will make me very sleepy, which I am glad! That way I can take my pre-natal vitamin at dinner, then take my anti-nausea meds to help me sleep and keep everything down! I'm looking forward to a good night's sleep tonight. Lately, my anxiety has been coming back in the evenings, and since I can't take any anti-anxiety medication, this will be helpful. They also went over all the hospital costs of having our baby.....wow! Our little Schoff is already running up a nice bill. haha Steve said that's okay, he'll make the baby work it off (yeah right) lol!!!! It was too early to listen for a heartbeat, but Dr. Poag did an exam and said the baby is growing nicely! We know we'll be having the baby at Clear Lake Regional, and after my next appointment, my new doctor will be Dr. Abbott, who is Dr. Poag's mother...and she will be the one to deliver me!

On another note, today is a sad day for my family, but especially my Mom. Her oldest dog, Tesse was put to sleep. Having just lost Brock, I know that no matter how prepared you think you are, losing a pet is NEVER easy.(especially one you've had as many years as we have had Tesse). What comforts me the most, is that now she is in Heaven with Brock-oli, and you know the two of them can rest together in peace. I just know they curled up somewhere under a big warm, furry blanket together waiting for the day when they can see us again!

Tesse, you and I had a rough start...I wasn't ready for you because we got you so soon after our Monique had passed....but that was short lived. You won me over with your sweet ways, and always happy demeanor. As I grew up, we've taken many naps together, and had many fun times! Remember the 2 mile walk at Dow Park...haha, you wouldn't come near me for a week!!!!! (Nor would she come out of her kennel, she feels the same way I do about exercise). I'm happy to have been a part of your life, and I am thankful you chose to be a part of ours. I will miss you dearly, and even your "urp's"!! If we've cleaned up one, we've cleaned a million, but it was worth it...you made us smile and laugh....and I'm grateful. Rest in peace Tesse-Mo, you'll be missed every day.

Will it ever stop!?!

Just as I wast thinking I was in the clear with my morning sickness, it strikes again! Yesterday, I was home from work all day spending quality time with my toilet and trash can. By dinner, I managed to eat a burrito from Taco bell and a sprite. Yay! This morning is somewhat better...I decided to get something in my stomach right away, so I had a banana and ginerale for breakfast. That seemed to do the trick until I got to work! Needless to say, my trash can is on standby right next to me. I haven't had to use it yet, thank goodness, I've been able to dash to the restroom every time it strikes! Sooo, enough with all the puke talk.

Steve and I (and Mom) have started buying diapers already! Steve is such a sweetheart...he ran to the grocery store last night to get my desired food items: carrots, real ranch dressing, peaches, cottage cheese, grapes, bannanas, apples, and gingerale - then he surprised me by throwing in some pampers swadlers!! Immediately I had to open the package and pull one out! I couldn't believe how small they were, and they smelled so good...haha. This weekend we plan on starting the conversion of the middle bedroom into the baby's room. I am looking forward to getting everything out of there, and start bringing in the baby items! We'll post pictures of our progress after the weekend!

Week 9

This is Baby Schoff at almost 8 weeks...
As of today, I am 9 weeks along! We are expecting the arrival of our first baby on August 25, 2010. The early weeks of pregnancy were NOT easy for me!! I had morning sickness almost every day, and nausea every day - all day long. When I woke up this Monday morning, I was happily surprised that most of those symptoms have disappeared. Whew! Here are some interesting facts about my ever-changing appetite:

Food Aversions
Boudin - can't smell it, look at it, and don't even think about cooking it anywhere around me!
Chick-fil-A - can't explain it, but can't stomach it
Super sweet tea - yuck!

Cravings
Chicken patties (Tyson - of course)
Mac n cheese, please!
fruit roll-ups, strawberry only
Pop Tarts, strawberry only as well!
Mamaw's fruit salad
*If you ask me, I seem to be craving everything I loved as a child?!! go figure*

My sweet Steve surprised me last week by registering himself to a baby website, and now he calls me whenever he get's an update on our baby's development. I love that he is getting so involved, it makes me and Baby Schoff really happy. So here is the update for today:

"Your new resident is nearly an inch long — about the size of a grape — and weighs just a fraction of an ounce. She's starting to look more and more human. Her essential body parts are accounted for, though they'll go through plenty of fine-tuning in the coming months. Other changes abound: Your baby's heart finishes dividing into four chambers, and the valves start to form — as do her tiny teeth. The embryonic "tail" is completely gone. Your baby's organs, muscles, and nerves are kicking into gear. The external sex organs are there but won't be distinguishable as male or female for another few weeks. Her eyes are fully formed, but her eyelids are fused shut and won't open until 27 weeks. She has tiny earlobes, and her mouth, nose, and nostrils are more distinct. The placenta is developed enough now to take over most of the critical job of producing hormones. Now that your baby's basic physiology is in place, she's poised for rapid weight gain." - courtesy of babycenter.com
