39 Weeks!

Today marks 39 weeks, 7 more days to go until Violet's official due date. We have a doctors appointment in the morning that I will update afterwards, so I'll keep this short and sweet!

This may be her last weekly update, who knows?!:
" Your baby's waiting to greet the world! He continues to build a layer of fat to help control his body temperature after birth, but it's likely he already measures about 20 inches and weighs a bit over 7 pounds, a mini watermelon. (Boys tend to be slightly heavier than girls.) The outer layers of his skin are sloughing off as new skin forms underneath." - courtesy of babycenter.com

The LONGest days!

Here we are at the end of my pregnancy, and let me tell you the days just get LONGER and LONGER. I am so anxious to meet my little girl, the days just drag on! Working is awful! Though I don't have a physically demanding job, the hours of nothingness in between 9 and 6 are filled with constant contemplation. I sit with my anxious thoughts all day and wonder when and how she will arrive into the world. I was just telling Steve this morning that before I met him I had ZERO patience. Now, between him and Violet, I have been forced to become a more patient person. I'm not sure if you have really learned patience if the patient road is the only option, but I'm getting better at practising it nonetheless!

Thursday is my next appointment, I'll be 39 weeks and 1 day along. We have an ultrasound scheduled for 10:15 am, followed by my regular appointment with Dr. Abbott. I am hoping to have made some progress by then! I don't want to be induced, I would like for things to progress naturally on their own, and without complication - that's what I'm praying for!

Till then, have a great week everyone! This Mommy is going to take her lunch nap, and sleep as much as possible until VSS's arrival!

38 Weeks - 1 day

I had to wait until today to update since my Doctor's appt. was in the afternoon yesterday. No new developments since my last checkup. In fact I haven't gained any weight on my last three appointments. Dr. says I am carrying the baby high, and there is no dialation at all, cervix is completely closed. Therefore, I am scheduled to have an ultrasound next Thursday, followed by my regular appointment. I guess then we will get a more accurate look at what's going on with our little girl as far as weight, and position! I'm looking forward to seeing her face, even if it will be in blurry black and white!!! lol

Her room is completely finished, minus the curtains. We actually have the curtains and the curtain rod, I am just waiting on Daddy to get them hung up. Violet's Mamaw is certain that the reason she's not coming out yet is because we have not hung them! If that's true, we definitely have a little diva on our hands!!

As we all know it could be any time now, the waiting game is the hardest part for me. I am trying to keep myself busy at work, but even that can be challenging! Steve has been such an awesome support. He takes care of anything and everything that I can't. From laundry to making sure my gas tank is full, to running my errands to pick up my prescriptions! I seriously don't know what I would have done without him, I applaud all those single mama's out there who have to man up and do it on their own!! They are brave, brave women! So thank you my love, for not only being my love, but my best friend, tear wiper, feet rubber and constant nurse! You are WONDERFUL, and I love you with all my heart!

....and last but not least:
"Your baby has really plumped up. She weighs about 6.8 pounds and she's over 19 1/2 inches long (like a leek). She has a firm grasp, which you'll soon be able to test when you hold her hand for the first time! Her organs have matured and are ready for life outside the womb. Wondering what color your baby's eyes will be? If she's born with brown eyes, they'll likely stay brown. If she's born with steel gray or dark blue eyes, they may stay gray or blue or turn green, hazel, or brown by the time she's 9 months old." - courtesy of babycenter.com

37 Weeks :)

So today I am considered FULL TERM! I really can't believe we are here, it's exciting! If you know me at all though, you know that I am not a very patient person. I think more than anything I am just ready to be at home spending time with her already. As I told a co-worker the other day, "I need a break from doing nothing," which is a lot of times what my job entails! I can be thankful though, that I have great maternity leave and benefits so most of the time it makes the boredom worth it!

I have been feeling pretty good for the most part. Last Friday I woke up to morning sickness again, then again on Sunday night and into all day Monday. I took the day off on Monday which was amazing, I got so much sleep thanks to my anti-nausea meds that knock me out! The Dr's office called me in some that I can take at work without drowsy side effects and I've been good to go the last two days.

The girls here at work are throwing me a shower on Friday, so I am looking forward to that. I thought it was really sweet considering they've already been to my other shower. I really do have awesome co-workers!

Now here are some photos of Steve (aka, Daddy) hanging Violet's chandelier made by her Mamaw (my Mom). I will get some more pictures of her finished room very soon!

37 week update on Miss Violet:
"Your baby is now considered full term, even though your due date is still three weeks away. If you go into labor now, his lungs will likely be mature enough to fully adjust to life outside the womb. He weighs 6 1/3 pounds and measures a bit over 19 inches, head to heel (like a stalk of Swiss chard). Many babies have a full head of hair at birth, with locks from 1/2 inch to 1 1/2 inches long." - Courtesy of babycenter.com
